Advanced Combat Trigger (ACT)

The ALG Defense Advanced Combat Trigger (ACT) is designed for those shooters where tradition, value and regulatory concerns are of primary importance. The pull of the ACT is very similar to a standard mil-spec trigger, however it is sharper and the grittiness of the stock trigger pull has been removed while the traditional reliability of a stock trigger remains. The pull weight is not lower than the M4/M16 minimum weight specification of 5.5lbs.

NOTE:  Included with the ACT is the Purple reduced power hammer spring as well as a full power hammer spring.

Item Number: 05-199

Availability: In stock

Note: HardLubing is ALG's term for electroless Nickel plating with an integral modifier to the base nickel plate. Either Boron or Teflon is used to enhance surface hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance and also create favorable tribological properties of the trigger components. Testing has shown that differential coating of the trigger parts contributes to the sharpness of the ACT's single stage pull. The trigger component is plated with Nickel-Boron which has a high surface hardness combined with excellent wear resistance. The color is a pleasing matte light grey that may be painted on non-functional surfaces if the shooter so desires (such as the trigger bow that is visible outside the lower receiver). The hammer, disconnector and trigger/hammer pins are plated with Nickel-Teflon which combines a low coefficient of friction with good wear resistance. The Teflon impregnation colors the metal a mottled, greyish/green. Parts coated with Nickel-Teflon cannot be painted. Both coatings are highly corrosion resistant eliminating the oil seal of traditional phosphated firearm components.

Full Description

1. Performance Advantages for the Shooter
• The ALG Defense ACT trigger pull is smoother and sharper than a stock trigger. This is accomplished by polishing the sear surfaces smooth and HardLubing the trigger components.
• Sear geometry has not been changed from the standard profile so the high reliability that the stock trigger is known for is unchanged.
• Trigger and hammer are made from true 8620 alloy steel military specification castings, correctly carburized, quenched and tempered for high surface hardness.
• Disconnector is 1070 High Carbon steel properly Austempered into the spring range of hardness.
• Springs are corrosion resistant and meet military specifications.
• A full force hammer spring is used for positive ignition of all type of ammunition.
• Trigger and hammer pins are improved over stock mild steel by using 4140 Chrome-Moly steel that has been quenched and tempered. Pins are centerless ground to a fine finish and a diameter 0.001” larger than stock to reduce play in the trigger assembly while retaining a slip fit into the weapon lower receiver. Both pins are Nickel-Teflon coated.
• Pull weight is above the U.S. Military minimum pull weight of 5.5lbs but does not reach near the upper limit of 9.5lbs. Generally, the pull weight is about 6.0lbs.

2. Advantages for the Armorer
• The ALG Defense ACT trigger is an enhanced standard trigger so maintenance and installation procedures are unchanged.
• Trigger assembly parts may be interchanged between triggers, there are no matched sets.
• As a trigger meeting the essential U.S. Military trigger specifications for the M4 Carbine, the ALG Defense ACT can be substituted for lower performing stock triggers while still staying in compliance with Unit or Departmental requirements.

Get yourself one, maybe two, or even three!
Review by Marcus

Picked up a used one from a friend who got a custom trigger, and the ACT works great in my rifle. Super smooth action.

I could easily buy 4 or 5 more, but I'm not in a huge rush to replace my different triggers. That said I will be picking one up for my new AR-10 style rifle next month.

I ordered 2 of these when they had a special (should've ordered more). They sat for a while (laziness lol) but when I built a 9mm pistol I needed a trigger so, I put the ALG in. I heard some triggers don't play nice with pistol caliber ARs but, this trigger has been great. Awesome quality and a silky, crisp feel. It motivated to put the other one in my carbine.

Lighter than others, but longer too
Review by Aaron

I bought this hoping to upgrade a PSA enhanced polished mill spec trigger. The PSA was very smooth and crisp, but head to be near 9 lbs of pull. When I got the ACT, I found it to be lighter, and just as smooth, but it had significantly more pre travel (trigger movement before hammer release). I'd rather have a heavier crisp trigger than a lighter one that lives before the shot breaks. I tried the purple spring from ALG on the PSA trigger, and it dropped my trigger pull by several pounds. Best guess is around 6.5-7 pull weight now. We'll see if it will consistently pop off mill spec primers.
Bottom line, the ALG is much better than a standard mil spec trigger, but mine did have several millimeters of pre-travel.

What Milspec could be and should be
Review by Shwell

when you compare this Trigger to "MilSpec" triggers you cant help but wonder why all triggers arent as good. Eliminate the Coating and you have a "MilSpec" Trigger that feels like some aftermarket offerings on the market. It is evident that more attention to detail is paid, and it is greatly appreciated.

Reliably crisp, and affordable. No need to do a DIY polish job, ALG Defense has made sure it isnt needed.

I like it !!
Review by Don

Bought the advanced combat trigger. No grittiness or creep - just a clean break. I prefer the lighter spring. Just right for hunting and informal target shooting. Will buy again.

Very Crisp and Smooth
Review by Joe

I purchased this for my son's M&P 15-22 and wow did it make a difference. His groups tightened up immediately. No grit, just a firm (but not stiff), clean break. I know several manufacturers are getting into the polished, coated trigger game but I'm sticking with ALG and Geissele triggers in my rifles.

Inexpensive, but not cheap!
Review by Greekunick

I wanted to upgrade the standard stock trigger for my Colt LE 6920 and this trigger package certainly fit the bill. It is being promoted as mill spec but breaks cleanly and has a very short and positive audible reset. I don't think you'll be disappointed in purchasing this for whatever AR-15 you are employing. My unit came with two springs, the standard 6 pound and another one which is designated at 4 1/2 pounds. I chose to install the standard spring and I'm very happy with it. I highly recommend this for anyone considering an upgrade.

This is simply the best bang for the buck in the AR trigger world. Look no further. You will not be disappointed. Very smooth! I used the purple (4.5 lb.) spring and really like the reduced pull weight. Quality is top notch and what you would expect from anything Geissele.

ACT Trigger
Review by SavageRiver1

I bought the ACT trigger and installed it in my AR 15 and I couldn't be happier. This trigger is everything it is advertized to be and more in my opinion. I will be buying more products from ALG Defence!

I just throw stock triggers in the garbage now
Review by Moose

John Noveske introduced me to this trigger and I can see why the company chose them as OEM (and Geissele as options). I recently got some purple springs in and replaced the original spring and was surprised at the difference. All of my ACTs are early models before they came with two springs. As far as single stage triggers go, I only use the ACT

The ACT changed the game, as denoted by a number of manufacturers coming up with eerily similar triggers...

Such A Difference
Review by Michael

Replaced the factory trigger in my PSA PA-10, really like the difference in feel and the consistency in the break. Ordering more for my other AR's, even the 22LR.

Very Smooth
Review by Frederick

I have to say this trigger has a much smoother pull than the stock trigger. It came with 2 hammer springs for 4.5 and 6 lb pulls. The materials seem to be good quality and installation took about 5 minutes.

Smooth trigger
Review by BDeMont

A really excellent trigger. Smooth, crisp, positive break, medium weight. If I was in a combat situation it is exactly what I would want. I swapped out the S&W factory trigger that was a little gritty and it is like night and day different. Great product. Worth the $70! Nice job ALG!

Night and Day
Review by David

If you're looking to upgrade your stock mil-spec trigger, but don't want to spend over $200, the ACT is what you want. It's a night and day difference between my old mil-spec and the ACT. Trigger pull is now smooth and the break is nice and crisp. I am also using the 4.5 lb trigger spring (my ACT came with the purple 4.5 lb spring, even though the description does not say it does). I can't wait for range day!

I've installed 2 of these triggers on different AR's. Short, smooth and sweet pull. For the money, it cannot be beat.

Great improvement over OEM
Review by Daniel

This fire control group more than met my expectations. Installation was simple. Machining is impeccable. And it immediately operated within advertised specifications. The only delay was needing to remove the safety on my DPMS GII. The factory trigger pulled at 7 lbs 2 oz with significant creep, grit, and inconsistent break. The ACT is crisp, short take up, and a clean, consistent break at 4 lbs 10 oz with my Lyman digital scale 6 pull average and purple spring. All fresh out of the mail. Time will tell how well I shoot with it and how it endures. Thank you ALG for a high quality product at a reasonable price.

Review by Brock

I bought this trigger for what I consider my fighting AR. I am personally not a fan of most of the Geissele for a fighting rifle, because they seem too light. Great for competition, not so much for tactical use. Minimal creep, well pronounced break, short (and audible) reset. Yes, I like this one a lot.

Best Trigger Value
Review by John

I prefer a single stage trigger. However, standard mil-spec triggers leave a lot to be desired and (most of) the after market packages are just a little too pricey for me. The ACT (with the purple hammer spring) was a revelation regarding how good a mil-spec trigger can be. Minimal take-up (with no grit), a clean 4.5# break and minimal re-set. All of my current ARs have been fitted with this trigger. All future builds will also have this trigger.

Excellent Value and Solid Performance
Review by Patrick

The value can't be beat. No, this trigger is not quite a Geissele unit. It lands squarely in between a stock GI trigger and high end trigger. No grit whatsoever and a nice clean break. Mine included 2 hammer springs. A 4.5 pound and a 6 pound. I opted to install the 4.5 and am very happy with the results. If you want a clean trigger that is a marked improvement over a stock GI, but don't want to buck all the way up to high end Geissele, this will impressively fit the bill.
